While it’s not the first pickup truck the brand has ever built, the Jeep Gladiator is the first from the iconic utility vehicle and off-road brand in quite some time. Introduced for the 2020 model year, now the 2021 Jeep Gladiator is available here in Uvalde County TX with plenty of enhancements to keep things exciting despite entering its sophomore year. If you’re looking for a pickup truck with the off-road pedigree inherent to Jeep vehicles, plus the customizability – such as removable doors and roof panels, then the Gladiator is definitely the right truck for you.
New for the 2021 model year is a diesel powertrain option in the form of the 3.0L EcoDiesel V6 engine. This new powertrain option is capable of generating 260 horsepower alongside 442 pound-feet of torque and is tethered to an 8-speed automatic transmission. You’ll also now be able to opt for full-time four-wheel drive, through SelecTrac on Sport, Overland and Mojave trim levels or Rock-Trac in the Rubicon.
In addition, the Overland trim level will now be available with a TrailCam feature, which adds a forward-facing camera to the vehicle perfect for off-road treks so that you can see any and all obstacles that might be in your path. You’ll be able to access the camera view through Off-road Pages, an available app. Plus, the Sport trim level adds LED headlamps and fog lamps to their list of available features.
Finally, as with most (if not all) of the Jeep models, the Gladiator has received an 80th Anniversary Addition, but also a new Willys model. For the former, the Gladiator is outfitted with 18” wheels in a Granite Crystal Finish, Neutral Grey Metallic accents throughout the exterior, an 8.4” touchscreen in the cabin, Berber floor mats and, naturally, commemorative badging on the exterior. The Gladiator Willys adds a limited-slip rear differential, rock rails and a set of 32” Mud-Terrain tires.
