When it comes to pickup trucks here in America, there’s a trio that has become known to many as “the big three.” This includes the Chevy Silverado, Ford F-150 and, our personal choice for number one, the RAM 1500. Originally called the Dodge Ram, the Dodge brand split RAM off into its own brand dedicated fully to pickup trucks like the 1500 back in in 2010. Today, we’ve got the third year of the pickup truck’s fifth generation, with a few updated features, right here in Uvalde County TX.
The fifth generation of the pickup truck just kicked off with the 2019 model year, putting the 2021 model, as we mentioned, in its third year. Despite being relatively young in terms of its current generation, a host of exciting updates were brought to the vehicle for the new model year. For starters, a new Limited Longhorn 10th Anniversary Edition trim level has been added to the available options. This special trim includes unique badging in a host of spots throughout the vehicle plus a Mountain Brown interior color with several unique design cues inside.
From there, an all-new Head-up Display unit has been added to the pickup truck, marking the first time such a feature has been applied to an FCA vehicle. A new digital rearview mirror has been added as an available feature, displayed on a 9.2” LCD monitor. Trailer Reverse Steering Control, Trailer Light Check and Trailer Tire Pressure Monitoring have been added to the available Trailer Package, while a new Snow Plow Prep Package has been added to its available options.
Other new features include power-folding trailer mirrors, Off-Road Pages and a Wired Trailer Camera Prep Kit. Plus, Pedestrian Detection has been added to the Advanced Safety Group while Full-speed Collision Warning Plus is now standard on the Laramie, Rebel, Longhorn, Limited Longhorn and Limited trim levels, while still available on Tradesman and Bighorn.
