Eagle Pass is located in Maverick County, Texas, across the Rio Grande River from Piedras Negras, Mexico. Eagle Pass has a long history, starting as one of the first settlements on the Rio Grande. It was named after the contour carved by the Rio Grande’s through the local hills created the appearance of outstretched eagle wings. The townsite was established in the 1840s, and Fort Duncan opened in 1849, which would see service on and off until the 1930s when the town acquired it and turned it into a museum.
Today you can find the Fort Duncan museum and other historical points of interest in Eagle Pass. The Eagle Pass Industrial Park is home to many thriving businesses, including the O.F. Mossberg & Sons firearms manufacturing plant. There are many parks and recreational facilities in town, including a 9 hole municipal golf course, Mall de las Aguilas, and the Lucky Eagle Casino just outside of city limits.
